This place has been talked about so much in the food blogs and is pretty well known as one of the favourite mamak spots in KL. Funny thing is Ive never step foot here even after numerous self proclaimation that it's good. Hence, tonight somehow we decided to drive all the way to Cheras on a wet and raining night to check it out. This mamak has a name which is well known to almost all the food bloggers, Steven Corners. It's a clean well built place, unlike the typical mamak stalls by the street side, of cos.In fact this outlet has opened up another Pool Club station naming Steven Corners which is just nearby to each other , most probably due to expansion of good business over the years. Place was as usual flock with people and I noticed there's many malays and Indians eateries and well, I spotted a couple of lesbians too. Not suprising since Cheras especially near that area is well known to have a favourite spot for gays, transexuals activities going around according to my bf. :D

This is their menu...I've actually asked for it since if not, the waiter would have straight away taken out a pencil and paper ready to take down our orders verbally. :P

This is another add ons from our main course. The Ayam Tandoori. Usually you can only get nice Ayam Tandoori from Indian Mamak Stalls. As Ive not been eating this for some time back, so this is the right choice for me. Served in big round onions as part of decoration, the meat initially looks small to me. THere's only 4-5 small pisces on plate, thats it. Grilled with fire, the meat is tasty. You can be rest assured that it surely has the Tandoori style to offer in taste. But for RM6, it seems a lil too expensive since the portion is really small. :PI'm a BIG meat eater especially when it is one of my favourites. haha

Since Im not satisfied with just having a bowl of noodle, we decided to try their famous Roti Bakar Telur. Not my choice, but his. As we just wanted to check out their roti specialty. So it's egg base again. hahaha. It's okay to me since the bread loaf is soft in texture and apart from the fried egg, sambal is added as side gravy to go with it. I tought it is rather unusual to have bread dipped in sambal as Ive never tried that before!! :D SO it's something different. Costed RM 1.40.

On the other hand, my bf was strangely craving for some muttons at that time. SO he ordered the Mee kering with curry Mutton.Goshh..I couldnt imagine how could I be eating those since the main ingredients are muttons in big chunks, and half done egg. Definitely it will be a waste if I order this.hahaha. He commented that it is good. The muttons are nicely done , soft and tender meat. Mee texture is on average. So overall is Okay to him.It costed same price,at RM 5.50.

I didnt know what to order initially since what do you usually expect from mamak stalls isnt it? They have several western selections and mainly choices are of those usual mee goreng and fried stuffs with their wide selections of Roti Bakar, Nun , etc.I guess that was their specialties. I didnt wanna take too much of fried and oily stuffs since recently been putting on lots of weight around my arms..hahaha. So gotta cut it down. So I ordered their Mee Goreng Sotong. (in fact, I choosen it due to the impression that it has a thumbs up icon inprinted on the menu). SO MUST be good, eh? :P Looks can kill sometimes. As Ive got the tendency to think and sit on the fence before deciding what to order, I relied a lot on pictures. :P However, much to my dissapointment, it is really out of my expectation. The mee gravy is basically taken from normal ordinary black ketchup which tasted exactly like that. The only credit given is their fried sotong or cuttlefish in chillie sambal paste garnish with coriander curry leaves. That's the only thing to look forward from that bowl of noodle.Sigh. Garnish on top was some fried onions and chopped green onions to give it a little Ummph on taste.Oh yes, they added one fried egg with egg yolk nicely done in the middle, but I throw that away to my bf as Im not an egg fan. It costed RM 5.50
Overall, just dont put your hopes too high for a normal operating mamak stalls regardless of the fame it is given. That's my personal opinion.Just assume that anything to be serve in mamak stalls are basically very standard. To come all the way from Shah Alam to have my mamak cravings on some occasional days, frankly thats not going to be likely in future. haha. As I can just simply hop in to any mamak outlets conveniently which serves exactly the same food and price.SO, why should I bother going too far? Unless Im so happen passing nearby that area, then yes, of course there will be another chance someday. :) Total bill amount came upto RM21 (Inclusive of one glass of Iced COffee and Orange Juice).
